Movie Render Camera Render Studio
Final rendering in Camera Render Studio should be performed through Movie Render Queue (MRQ). This is the main workflow for producing final output images or video-ready sequences.
Inside MRQ, Camera Render Studio provides several rendering passes depending on the task: standard beauty rendering, Path Tracing rendering, and Object ID / Cryptomatte workflows.
Available Passes
- Camera Render Studio (Deferred) — the main rendering pass for standard output. Use it for regular beauty rendering with all supported projection types.
- Camera Render Studio (PathTracer) — works similarly to the Deferred pass, but uses Path Tracing as the rendering mode. This is intended for scenes where final image quality depends on physically accurate lighting, reflections, and global illumination.
- Camera Render Studio (Object ID) — used for Object ID / Cryptomatte rendering workflows. This pass is intended for EXR-based compositing pipelines where object, material, actor, folder, or layer masks are required.
Projection Modes
Camera Render Studio supports multiple projection types inside MRQ, including 2D, stereo, 360, FullDome, VR180, Cylindrical, and Spherical Mirror workflows.
- Face projections use a more limited number of camera views. These modes are generally lighter and faster because they rely on a fixed number of cube-style directions.
- Extend projections use an expanded panel-based workflow. These modes render the scene through multiple horizontal and vertical steps, which provides more flexibility and coverage, but also increases render cost.
Stereo Settings
When stereo rendering is enabled, several key parameters become available to control eye separation and convergence behavior.
- IPD — controls the distance between the left and right eye cameras. This defines stereo separation and directly affects perceived depth.
- Convergence Distance — defines the distance at which stereo convergence is evaluated. In practice, this controls where the stereo alignment is focused in the scene.
- Manual — uses the value entered directly in the pass settings.
- Tracking — uses the tracked convergence distance coming from the Camera Render Studio component, when that workflow is active.
Convergence also supports different stereo behavior modes:
- Parallel (No Convergence) — keeps the eyes parallel without convergence correction.
- Parallel (Off-Axis) — keeps parallel stereo while applying an off-axis stereo solution.
- Toe-In — rotates the eyes toward the convergence distance.
High Resolution and Segments
Extend-based projections can be split into horizontal and vertical segments for large output resolutions and complex dome or cylindrical workflows. This is useful when you need to render very high resolutions while keeping per-tile memory usage under control.
- Num Horizontal Steps — defines how many panels are used horizontally.
- Num Vertical Steps — defines how many panels are used vertically.
- Pane Tile Resolution — sets the resolution of each rendered panel.
- Pane Quality Scale — scales the effective quality of panel rendering.
- Create Job — can prepare segmented rendering jobs for large outputs.
Codec Bridge [Video Format]
The additional plugin Codec Bridge [Video Format] allows you to convert the final rendered image sequence into the required video format after rendering is complete.
In addition to standard image output such as JPG, PNG, BMP, and EXR, the workflow can also be used to produce video formats such as H.264, depending on the selected codec and export setup.
This workflow gives you full control over projection rendering, stereo setup, high-resolution segmentation, EXR/Cryptomatte pipelines, and final video conversion inside the Camera Render Studio ecosystem.
Working with EXR Cryptomatte
To work with EXR Cryptomatte, you need to add both Camera Render Studio (Deferred) and Camera Render Studio (ObjectID) to your Movie Render Queue job.
This workflow allows you to render the main beauty output together with Object ID / Cryptomatte data for compositing and masking in post-production.
Step 1 — Add Required Passes
Add the following passes to the same MRQ job:
- Camera Render Studio (Deferred) — renders the main beauty image
- Camera Render Studio (ObjectID) — renders Cryptomatte / Object ID data
Step 2 — Use EXR Output
For Cryptomatte workflows, it is recommended to use EXR output. This allows you to preserve the required render data for compositing and masking.
Step 3 — Configure Object ID Settings
Inside Camera Render Studio (ObjectID), select the required ID generation mode depending on your workflow.
- Actor — generates IDs based on actors
- Material — generates IDs based on materials
- Layer / Folder — can be used depending on project organization and masking requirements
Choose the mode that best matches the way your scene is organized and the type of masks you need in compositing.
CoverageSS
If Object ID output appears too pixelated, you can increase CoverageSS.
Use higher values only when necessary, especially in scenes with fine edges, thin geometry, or detailed object separation.
Practical Result
Using Deferred together with ObjectID in EXR format gives you a flexible workflow for final rendering and post-production, allowing clean beauty output together with Cryptomatte-based masks for compositing.
